Website Rewrite in a Day for a Psychotherapist
This project was a one-day whirlwind of clarity, compassion, and copy magic. My client—a deeply thoughtful psychotherapist specializing in LGBTQIA+ support, religious trauma, and body image healing—won a Studio Day with me through a giveaway. With just one day on the clock, we set out to refine her website copy to reflect the depth and warmth of her work.
She already had a website with solid content, but it needed more personality, clarity, and client connection. So we rolled up our sleeves and rewrote the most important parts of her site in one focused session, making them clearer, more inviting, and fully aligned with the healing space she offers.
About the project
Who: A psychotherapist based in California, passionate about helping LGBTQIA+ folks heal from religious trauma, reconnect with their bodies, and feel safe in their identities.
What she needed: Her website already had strong bones, but the copy didn’t fully represent the deep empathy, lived experience, and client-centered approach that defines her practice.
The goal
The original copy lacked the personality, connection, and clarity that her dream clients craved. This led to a disconnect between her expertise and the message her copy conveyed. Our goal was to:
Bring more authenticity and warmth to her site.
Make her copy less about her titles and more about the client’s transformation.
Add a new service (Couples Therapy) and expand the FAQ section for clarity.
Ensure every section speaks directly to the reader’s pain points, hopes, and journey.
Optimize key sections for SEO to help her connect with the right people through organic search.
The transformation highlights
What changed?
Shifted from an intro about the therapist to a statement centered on the client’s experience.
Created an emotionally validating first impression.
Emphasized safety, acceptance, and showing up authentically—major themes for her audience.
What changed?
The section is now more personal and affirming. The new copy immediately makes the reader feel seen.
Clear, empathetic structure that validates their struggle and outlines support.
Using plain, sincere language to make therapy feel approachable, not clinical.
What changed?
Reframed the CTA around the client’s transformation, not just the action.
Explained the purpose of the consultation more clearly.
Emphasized safety, no pressure, and relationship-first, so potential clients feel at ease.
What changed?
Added a new FAQ: “Do you take insurance?” to eliminate barriers to care.
Rewrote all questions in plain, friendly language that makes therapy feel accessible.
Explained pricing, structure, and format without sounding cold or formal.
What changed?
Added a new section: Partnered/Couples Therapy, with inclusive, non-clinical language.
Expanded LGBTQIA+ and Religious Trauma sections to include more affirming, identity-respecting language.
Infused warmth, clarity, and nonjudgmental tone across every paragraph.
What changed?
The updated copy softens the message, making it less transactional and more inviting. Phrases like “Not quite ready to book an appointment? No problem.” make the therapist feel approachable and understanding.
The new version elaborates on why someone might reach out: whether they have questions, need more information, or just want to connect. This anticipates the reader’s mindset and removes hesitation.
Project summary
What I changed:
Client-focused copy: Shifted the messaging to speak directly to her dream clients—making them feel seen, safe, and understood from the very first line.
Stronger CTAs: Reframed every invitation to work together around the client’s healing journey, not just around booking an appointment.
More personality: Infused the copy with warmth, authenticity, and compassion, mirroring the experience clients can expect from working with her.
Clearer benefits: Made it easy for potential clients to instantly understand how her services can help them move forward with confidence and support.
SEO optimization: Strategically enhanced key sections for SEO to help her connect with the right audience through organic search.
Why it works:
By making the website copy more client-centered, emotionally resonant, and transformation-driven, we created a site that immediately builds trust, breaks down barriers to therapy, and invites the right clients to take the next step toward healing, all while feeling fully seen and supported.
Collaborating with Rachel was such a heartwarming experience. Her deep commitment to creating an inclusive, affirming, and safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community, those healing from religious trauma, and clients working on body acceptance is truly inspiring. She approaches her work with so much authenticity, warmth, and care, which made bringing her voice to life through her website copy even more meaningful.
My goal was to refine her messaging so that it fully reflected the depth of her empathy, the safety she offers, and the transformation she helps her clients achieve. Now, her brand is a total package: an inviting, client-centered website filled with clear, compassionate messaging that builds connection and trust from the very first click.
